Departs from Ft Lauderdale,
Disembarks in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

This 15 day transatlantic Itinerary includes the ports of Bermuda - Funchal (Madeira) - Malaga, Valencia and Barcelona, Spain - St. Tropez, France and Monte Carlo.
We are very excited to announce a Bridge Cruise with Bruce Toder. While an undergrad at Penn, Bruce took up the game of bridge. He has been a Life Master for over twenty five years. Bruce has been working as a bridge instructor on cruise ships for nearly twenty years on almost forty cruises. During the sea days, there is lecture in the morning and there will be a duplicate bridge game in the afternoons; social bridge is offered as well. View the Navigator.
While in port, garden enthusiasts will want to make time for the Bermuda Botanical Gardens. Originally opened in 1898, the gardens feature 36 acres of trees, flowers and shrubs. All are clearly labeled, making it the place to come if you want to identify the fantastic flora in Bermuda.
After the transatlantic voyage, Funchal is the first port of call, named for the huge amounts of Fennel (funcho) that grew wild, rising straight up from the sea. The full effect of this extraordinary geography is most evident when sailing out of the city after dark; funneling up from the harbor area is near 5000 feet of mountainous terrain. It’s a stunning experience! The island is equally beautiful during the day. Flowers, roses and Bougainvillea cascade down the mountains in riotous color and with its location on the Gulf Stream, Madeira enjoys ideal year-round weather.
While in Madeira you’ll want to be sure to visit Reid’s Palace, set on ten acres of lush semi-tropical gardens, hanging vines merge with glorious displays. This garden features trees from all over the world, alongside flowering shrubs and a rich variety of the brilliant flowers that have earned Madeira its title as the ‘Garden of the Atlantic’.
In Barcelona the Park Guell garden complex offers architectural elements situated on the hill of el Carmel. It is said to be the best and most famous example of Art Nouveau landscape-architecture and has been designated a UNESO World Heritage Site. Count Eusebi Guell, a wealthy businessman, conceived the project as infrastructure for a mountainside garden suburb. Park Guell features serpentine terraces, seats, galleries and arcades that run with the mountainside.
In Monaco the enchanting Japanese Garden, covers 23,000 square feet and is right next to the Mediterranean Sea. This authentic work of art unites stone, water and vegetation in the most marvelous harmony. Waterfalls and ponds, decorated with symbolically-shaped islands, add to the serenity of the surroundings and are admired by visitors as they walk through the garden. This exceptional garden has a very special atmosphere, which is accentuated by the use of azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias.

While crossing the Atlantic there will be a Theatre at Sea Program, and an extensive cast of 15 stars from film and television will provide a wide range of theatrical experiences. What makes the experience especially meaningful is the opportunities for informal daily interaction with the people who make fantasy into reality, at least while the curtain is raised. They may even sit in on a Bridge Lecturer.

Each year we at DePrez enjoy helping to make the holidays a little brighter for those in need. This year we are contributing to two very special projects, Cards that Care and Matt's Coats for Kids.
Cards that Care is a project started by the daughter of one of our employees four years ago. She began collecting blank holiday cards for people in local hospitals, nursing homes and senior living centers. Family & friends help to fill out the cards, add stickers and stamps. In the past 4 years, with the help of family, friends, several schools and a Boy Scout Troop she has put a smile on the faces of over 15,000 people. The goal this year is 10,000 cards. We are collecting clean, blank holiday cards in an effort to help spread the cheer.
Also, each year, in the memory of Matthew Fitton, nephew of one of our agents, we collect gently used (clean) and new coats of all sizes as well as scarves, hats and gloves. These go to help needy children in our area to stay warm. Occasionally the children's caregivers receive a warm winter coat, too. Matt's Coats for Kids has distributed about 2000 coats to needy children since 2004. For more information see http://www.mattscoatsforkids.org.
If you would like to join DePrez in either of these efforts, stop by and drop off your donation.

Travel + Leisure’s Top 10
Botanical Gardens of the World
1. Brooklyn Botanical Garden - Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 1910, this 52 acre New York institution boasts 12,000 resident plant species as well as the Steinhardt Conservatory, Shakespeare Garden, and the C. V. Starr Bonsai Museum.
2. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden - Western Cape, South Africa. An 89 acre spread in the eastern slopes of Cape Town's Table Mountain, this garden is remarkable aesthetically and historically. Founded in 1913, it is the first national botanical garden established for the express purpose of local flora conservation.
3. Byodoin - Kyoto, Japan. On the outskirts of Kyoto, this 4.9 acre garden is as of 1994 on UNESCO's World Heritage list. An 11th century temple complex blends Chinese and Japanese style pavilions, a pond, and a circuit of bridges.

Jardin Botanique de Montreal
4. Jardin Botanique de Montreal - Quebec, Canada. Established in 1931, this 185 acre garden has adapted admirably to the Quebecois winter. The Insectarium with its 160,000 live and preserved specimens is a favorite.
5. Reid's Palace - Madeira. This seaside spread, established in 1891 by wine baron William Reid reinforces Madeira's reputation as the Garden of the Atlantic. Set atop a cliff, the Palace is surrounded by 10 acres of semitropical gardens where Winston Churchill reportedly contemplated his memoirs and George Bernard Shaw learned to tango.
6. Claude Monet Foundation at Giverny - Normandy, France. No matter how many times you've seen Monet's Water Lilies, there's no preparing for the living painting here. Created in the 1880's and 90's and inspired by Monet's fascination with Japanese pastoral prints, this 2.5 acre estate is where the artist lived, painted, and gardened until his death in 1926.
7. Seychelles National Botanical Gardens - Mahé, Seychelles. The Seychelles' national tree, the coco de mer, is a highlight of the 15 acre, 107 year-old National Botanical Gardens. Home of many varieties of palms and an endless assortment of tropical flowers, rivaled only by the backdrop - a range of jungle smothered mountains.
8. Biltmore Estate - Asheville, North Carolina. Built at the turn of the 20th century by George Washington Vanderbilt III, he hired the so-called founding father of U.S. landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted, to design the grounds. Now the estate's 8,000 acres encompass an Italian garden, an English walled garden, and an Azalea Garden.
9. Tohono Chul Park - Tucson, Arizona. Tohono Chul is a 49 acre study in color and variety. From the Hummingbird Garden's indigenous salvia and honeysuckle to the flowering desert ironwood trees that stand outside the property's 1937 adobe house, life abounds. Plants used medicinally and ceremonially by the Tohono O'odham people make up the garden.
10. Andromeda Botanical Gardens - St. Joseph, Barbados. Set along a stream, embellished with ponds and waterfalls, and overlooking the Atlantic, this 6 acre garden has one of the Caribbean's best collections of indigenous and imported tropical plants.

Attendance is up at most theme parks around the country, which is a mixed blessing. In order to save time and money you should work with an agent who has first hand insight and information on the venue. Our knowledgeable agents can advise you on the park's best attractions while bypassing the chaff.
Money saving ideas:
* Don't buy at the gate. There are often special sales and promotions going on and here at Whitaker & DePrez we keep up to date on these and can offer you the best deal for your stay.
* Consider going during off season. You can often save money during a less busy time. For most theme parks, that's any time other than holidays and summer vacations.
* Use passes to sweep you past the crowds for popular rides. Disney's has a terrific FastPass system and it's free. At Universal Studios' theme park in Orlando, Express Plus Passes promise to reduce wait times to 15 minutes or less and are available for an additional $16 to $41 per guest per day, depending on the date you attend the park.
* When visiting a Disney Park, consider buying the meal plan. This will save a bundle on daily snacks and meals. View more tips on Disney Parks.
Ideas to cut the lines:
* Get to the park when it opens and ride the most popular attractions first. When in doubt, go left; the herd tends to move through parks counterclockwise.
* Use the "single rider" option if it's offered. Many parks scoot single riders to the front of the line at their most popular attractions. If you don't mind breaking up your party, you can cut a multi-hour wait to mere minutes.
Save on souvenirs:
* Give the kids an allowance. You set the limit, and they get to spend it on whatever they choose.
* Put off buying until the end. By the end of your day (or your trip), you'll have a good idea of what's available and can make better choices.
