NewEnglandHeadline

In September and October, New England is the only place to be. Like love and marriage, and horse and carriage, fall foliage and New England go together. Across the six states, the green leaves of summer change into shimmering colors, from orange and gold to purple and scarlet. Add in clear blue skies and crisp clean air: Autumn doesn’t get any better than this. You have to see it to believe it.

It all starts in northern New England in late September. Like a giant paintbrush moving across the region, the color starts in northern Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont then sweeps south through Massachusetts, right down to Connecticut and Rhode Island. But it’s not just the foliage that makes New England so appealing in the fall. Completing the picture are classic villages, with their white-steepled churches, clapboard houses and village greens. Many of these communities date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Some are close to the sea, others hidden inland at the end of wandering lanes. All have welcoming country inns and cozy bed-and-breakfasts, where the crisp evenings are just the excuse for a crackling log fire.

Now's the time to start planning your trip. Be among the thousands of "leaf peepers" who will descend on New England in 2008 and view the blaze of fall foliage unparalleled to anywhere in the world. Don't wait until the last minute to book your fall get-away.

GoGreenHead

When confronted with an ocean of airline, hotel and destination information, trying to make a decision can be frustrating and overwhelming. Instead of spending head-spinning hours sifting through recommendations, invest a half-hour chatting with one of our experienced travel counselors.

We can offer insider connections and industry expertise - along with the guidance and know-how you require to make educated travel choices. We will also provide you with visa requirements and destination information, plus insurance recommendations.

The myth is that everything is cheaper on the Internet. In reality, it is very time consuming to research the options and do it yourself. At  DePrez Group of Travel Companies we offer valuable insider information. We factor in crucial details, from weather to visas and travel insurance.

Lets say, you want to get married on a beach in the Caribbean. Besides handling air, hotel bookings and transfers for the bride, groom and all the guests, we can often secure group discounts and special packages.  We can arrange for Aunt Marge to stay an extra night and make arrangements to have wine in the guest rooms upon arrival. If you prefer we can even set up group banquets and excursions. It’s like having a wedding co-ordinator who is also a travel agent.

Besides less hassle, you have “Peace of Mind” when you book with us. Anyone can buy a truck and pretend to run an African safari. But by using us you can rest assured that we use highly regarded, reputable companies and properties.

With our connections we are able to look after little details. We can secure an experienced English-speaking guide, make sure the hotel and facilities are wheelchair-accessible or reserve a four-wheel-drive for that rugged terrain. Other services can include options like setting up tours and theatre tickets, possibly getting you signed up for a French cooking class – items you, the traveler, might not have thought about.

"We offer the expertise and personal attention you can't get over the Internet."

With a cooling economy and soaring fuel prices, you want the most out of every dollar you spend. Here are a few tips to consider when making your travel plans:

  • Consider travel insurance - In some cases, buying insurance will cover everything from lost luggage to flight cancellations, but know the conditions beforehand.
  • Check the policies - Particularly when booking online, refunds may be almost impossible to get if something goes wrong. Know the terms and conditions and keep track of what was paid and charged.
  • Use credit cards - If there's a problem, your credit card company may have more luck getting money back than you would on your own.
  • Know the economy - Because of the weak dollar, traveling in Europe is more expensive this summer than last. Expect fuel surcharges everywhere.

And for corporate/ frequent flier travelers:

  • Join a program that best suits your travel.
  • Stick with one airline program, if at all possible.
  • Know what other airlines will accept miles from your program.
  • Consider getting a credit card that earns miles.
  • Keep an eye out for promotions that earn double or even triple miles for each dollar charged on the card.
  • Book award flights as early as possible.
